When I installed Fixmo Tools, I was prompted to grant 'Trusted Application' status.  What should I select?

During the installation process on a BlackBerry, you may be prompted to give Fixmo Tools Trusted Application status. Selecting "Yes" allows you to quickly provide Fixmo Tools with the permissions it requires to work properly.

Selecting "No" will require you to set the application permissions for Fixmo Tools. [link to question 3 in this section]

What do I select when prompted for Application Permissions?

On some BlackBerry models you will be asked to view application permissions after installing Fixmo Tools. When prompted, simply click "View."

You can now press the escape key () on your BlackBerry and select "Save."

My BlackBerry smartphone won't allow me to download Fixmo Tools and/or accept the required application permissions?

If your BlackBerry smartphone was provided to you by your company's IT department, it might be connected to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). BES is typically configured to specify what your smartphone is permitted to do - for example, access the internet, download applications, specify security settings, and more.

If you can successfully download and install Fixmo Tools, there is a known issue in some BlackBerry Enterprise Server environments can prevent the Fixmo registration process from completing successfully. Please refer to "Allow SSL connections when you are using BlackBerry Enterprise Server" within this document for the steps required to bypass this specific scenario.

Fixmo can be reached at support@fixmo.com if your IT Administrator has any questions or is interested in installing Fixmo Tools across the company.

I am getting an "unexpected condition" error message when I try to register.  What does it mean?

If you are seeing the following error:

"An unexpected condition was encountered which prevented your request from being fulfilled. If applicable, turn on your WiFi connection and try again. Otherwise, contact support@fixmo.com or consult your IT administrator regarding access to an external site (www.fixmo.com) over a secure link"

There are two ways to resolve this problem, as documented in the following sections.

(i) Turn on Wi-Fi

If your device supports Wi-Fi, you can enable it by going to Manage Connections > Setup Wi-Fi Network. Of course, if you have Wi-Fi already setup on your BlackBerry device, you can simply check the "Wi-Fi" option as shown in the screenshot below.

To successfully complete setup of your Wi-Fi network simply follow the instructions on the prompts that are provided.

(ii) Allow SSL connections when you are using BlackBerry Enterprise Server

On your BlackBerry, under Options > Security Options > Advanced Security Options > TLS change the "TLS Default" from "Proxy" to "Handheld." This will allow the BlackBerry smartphone to parse the certificate directly, which does not have the problem with the "Subject Alternative Name".

It should be noted that depending on your operating system, the "Advanced Security Options" step by not be required. "TLS" can be found after clicking "Security Options."

Can I use Fixmo Tools with my Storm or Storm2 in compatibility mode?

Why am I not taken to BlackBerry App World directly when attempting to purchase Fixmo Tools from my device?

If you downloaded a trial version from BlackBerry App World and decide to buy Fixmo Tools, you will be taken to BlackBerry App World when you click on the "Go to Store" menu item. However, not all BlackBerries come with BlackBerry App World installed. To provide the best experience possible, Fixmo will ask you to make a simple selection to either install BlackBerry App World, or if you have it installed, go directly to the store. This is shown in the screenshot below.

Undelete

Does Undelete recover text messages?

Not in the current version. Undelete allows you to retrieve the last 50 deleted email, PIN messages, calendar events, tasks, and memos.

I can’t find an email I just restored using Undeleted. Where is it?

After undeleting an email, the message will be viewable in the BlackBerry messages general email view, but not an account specific view. The screenshot below indicates each one of the different types of inboxes. This scenario will arise if you have setup your BlackBerry to receive email from POP or IMAP email accounts.

I used Undelete to restore an email and it is missing the attachment. Why?

Undelete does not support recovering attachments at this time.

I used Undelete to restore an email, but the entire email was not restored. Why?

Sometimes, emails you receive on your BlackBerry are longer than what will be initially downloaded to the device (approximately 2kb). If you delete that email on your handheld and your email server, when you go to restore it on your BlackBerry using Undelete, only the portion that was initially received will be available.

When I Undelete an email that's been removed from my email server, why am I not able to use Forward / Reply with Edit?

Forward / Reply with Edit requests the entire email from the server to ensure all of the original contents can be edited before sending. If you have deleted an email from your BlackBerry and email server and since restored it using Undelete, Fixmo Tools will not be able to request the full contents of the email from the server before allowing you to forward and/or reply with edits.

Does Undelete support multiple calendars?

Not at this time. Undelete will only support items saved to the default calendar on your BlackBerry device.

I deleted an email on my BlackBerry, but can't see it in the Undelete queue. Why?

When you delete an email using a third party application (such as BerryPopup), the Undelete feature within Fixmo Tools can't properly handle the message to send it to the queue at this time.

Silencer

I don’t want Silencer to silence my phone for all of my meetings. How do I disable it for certain meetings?

There may be occasions when you want to prevent Silencer from automatically silencing your BlackBerry during a specific busy calendar event. For example, you might not want to silence your BlackBerry if you are expecting meeting attendees to call you for the meeting or if you are simply blocking time on your calendar.

To override Silencer for a specific event, add the word "nosilence" to the location field of that event in your calendar. Your BlackBerry will not be silenced during that time, even if other busy events occur at the same time.

How do I know if my phone is silenced?

The Silencer icon will appear in the lower right hand corner of the Fixmo Tools icon. It will also appear as a notification icon at the top of the screen on BlackBerry models running OS v4.7 and higher.

How do I set Quick Silence to a convenience key?

If you want to be able to silence your BlackBerry using one of your convenience keys, you will need to assign both the Fixmo Tools application and the Silencer to the same convenience key (either Right or Left) by following two steps.

  1. Go to your BlackBerry Options menu, select Screen/Keyboard, and then set the corresponding Right or Left convenience key to Fixmo Tools.
  2. Now, go to Fixmo Tools > Silencer and scroll down to set which convenience key you want to use (right or left - based on what you selected in step one, and as shown in the screenshot below).

Once you have set the convenience key, pressing it twice will enable/disable Quick Silence. In essence, the first press will open Fixmo Tools and the second will enable quick silence.

Will Silencer affect the alarms I have set?

No. Just as you receive alarms even when your profile is set to silent, you will continue to hear the alarms you have set when Silencer is enabled.

How to I deactivate Silencer if a meeting ends early and I want to resume getting my phone calls and alerts?

You can deactivate Silencer by going into your calendar and editing the meeting to show as "Free" instead of "Busy". This will turn off Silencer for the remainder of the scheduled meeting time.

Will Silencer work for events in multitple calendars?

Not at this time. Silencer will only stop phone calls and other alerts for meeting scheduled within your default calendar.

Forward With Edit

How do I get Forward with Edit to include an attachment?

Forward with Edit does not include the attachments of the forwarded email. In order to include an attachment, you need to first save it from the original email and then attach the new message.

Flame Retardant

There is an X beside an email that was caught by Flame Retardant. What does this mean?

On BlackBerry OS v5.0, this is how the original email that was caught by Flame Retardant will appear.

To edit the message and re-send, scroll to the email that Flame Retardant caught, press your BlackBerry key (located directly to the left of your scroll wheel / pad) and select edit.

Battery Monitor

Why is the battery level in Battery Watch different from the battery level on my BlackBerry’s status screen?

Fixmo Tools Battery Watch is accurate to the nearest 1%. The battery level reported on the BlackBerry Status Screen is rounded to the nearest 5% value.

Memory Monitor

How does memory on the BlackBerry work?

The BlackBerry uses two different memory areas for permanent data storage: application memory and device memory.

Applicaton memory is used to store the operating system and any other software installed on the device. It's also used for certain kinds of "small" data like email, calendar events, and contacts. For technical reasons, all current BlackBerry models limit application memory to 256MB or less. This is the type of memory that is reported by Memory Monitor.

Device memory is normally much larger than application memory and is used to store ring tones, photos, videos, and other files. Any removable memory card that you insert in the BlackBerry will be treated as device memory.

What does Memory Monitor do?

Memory Monitor performs several background functions:

  • It periodically clears unused data from RAM.
  • It warns you when you are running more applications than your device can handle without slowing down.
  • It warns you when free storage memory drops below 4GB. At 2GB, the BlackBerry system software may automatically delete old email, calendar events, and other data without notice, in order to free up space.

What does “Clear Cache” do?

This feature uses standard BlackBerry utilities to delete temporary data such as cached passwords and Internet files. It also clears unused data from RAM, which will help your applications to run faster.

Why does Memory Monitor report different numbers than the native memory statistics on my BlackBerry?

Fixmo tools is reporting the amount of memory the operating system is allowing an application to use at the present time, and not the total amount of memory available on the device.
