1. What is Mobile Risk Management?

Mobile risk management (MRM) is an emerging category of technologies that empower organizations to identify, mitigate and manage the risks associated with mobile devices in the workplace. MRM helps organizations go beyond traditional mobile device management (MDM) practices, which have primarily relied on risk avoidance or control tactics that limit how devices can be used by employees, to help them exercise the full potential of mobility while protecting corporate data and ensuring regulatory compliance. Using a “risk mitigation” philosophy, MRM solutions enable organizations to support a wide range of mobile devices and embrace the “bring your own device” (BYOD) trend by taking a holistic approach to MDM, corporate data security, mobile application management (MAM), malware prevention, IT compliance reporting and more. 2. How do Fixmo Sentinel and Fixmo SafeZone help organizations manage the risks associated with mobile devices?

Fixmo Sentinel and Fixmo SafeZone are designed to help organizations identify, mitigate and manage the risks associated with deploying both corporate-liable and personal-liable (“bring your own device”) mobile devices. They provide device configuration and integrity verification, data protection, system monitoring and enterprise reporting tools that help organizations verify and protect their mobile environment and remain in regulatory compliance.

Fixmo Sentinel provides a powerful combination of mobile device management (MDM), mobile integrity management (MIM), compliance monitoring and enterprise reporting that helps organizations ensure their mobile devices and infrastructure start, and remain, in a known trusted state. By continuously monitoring device configurations and system integrity, Fixmo Sentinel can help organizations understand what their risk posture is at any given time and take action when necessary to ensure regulatory compliance. It also provides risk intelligence tools including analytics, alerting and enterprise reporting that ensures organizations have an audit trail of the integrity and compliance posture of their mobility environment.

Fixmo SafeZone provides a FIPS 140-2 certified 256-bit AES encrypted “secure container” for iOS and Android devices that provides advanced encryption and access control for data in-transit and data at-rest including Email, PIM, documents, intranet-based web content and more. Organizations can also deploy custom applications into Fixmo SafeZone using the Fixmo SafeZone SDK to leverage the same level of protection for in-house developed apps as well as third party apps. Fixmo SafeZone ensures that private corporate data remains protected within a secure and verified container on both personal-liable and corporate-liable devices, helping organizations mitigate the risk of data loss and maintain compliance.

Fixmo Sentinel and Fixmo SafeZone can work independently or as complementary MRM solutions to enable organizations to mitigate and manage different types of risks associated with BlackBerry, iOS, Android and Windows Phone mobile device deployments and report on their compliance.

3. What is Fixmo’s relationship with the U.S. Government's National Security Agency (NSA)?

Through the National Security Agency (NSA) Technology Transfer Program (TTP), Fixmo has commercialized and further advanced powerful MRM technologies initially developed by the U.S. Government’s National Security Agency. Through a Co-operative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the NSA/CSS (Central Security Service), Fixmo is actively engaged in various projects centered around mobile enterprise device management, mobile enterprise systems management, and mobile enterprise device security.

4. How does Fixmo SafeZone assist organizations in embracing personal-liable mobile devices to address the “bring your own device” (BYOD) trend?

A growing number of organizations are embracing the BYOD trend, which enables employees to bring personal-liable mobile devices into the enterprise or government workplace. Allowing employees to bring consumer-grade mobile devices into the enterprise can offer a number of benefits and cost savings but can also introduce significant risk and concerns over data protection and regulatory compliance. Fixmo SafeZone is designed to help organizations manage the risk associated with the BYOD approach by ensuring corporate data is continuously protected on personal-liable devices within a separate contained environment that is fully encrypted, access-controlled and monitored for integrity verification. Fixmo SafeZone provides a secure container for iOS and Android devices, providing 256-bit AES encryption for data in-transit and data at-rest including email, PIM, documents, intranet-based web content and more. Organizations can also deploy custom applications using the Fixmo SafeZone SDK to leverage the same level of protection for in-house developed apps as well as third party apps. Fixmo SafeZone enables employees to securely access their critical business content on their personal-liable devices without impacting the personal user experience of the device. And when an employee exits an organization, IT administrators can easily wipe the Fixmo SafeZone container along with all of the corporate data applications contained within in.

5. Is Fixmo SafeZone FIPS certified?

Yes. Fixmo SafeZone offers 256-bit AES encryption and is FIPS 140-2 certified.

6. I currently use AutoBerry or AutoBES as a U.S. Government Agency. What do I need to know about Fixmo and Fixmo Sentinel?

Through the National Security Agency Technology Transfer Program (TTP), Fixmo has driven the transition of AutoBerry, an NSA-designed solution for automating mobile device compliance auditing, from a government off-the-shelf (GOTS) product to a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product called Fixmo Sentinel Desktop. Existing AutoBerry users can select here to learn more about Fixmo Sentinel Desktop.

Fixmo also offers Fixmo Sentinel Server Compliance Check (SCC), which is the COTS alternative for AutoBES, an NSA-designed solution for automating mobile service compliance auditing. Fixmo Sentinel SCC enables administrators to automate compliance scanning and auditing of their BlackBerry Enterprise Server and Good Mobile Messaging Server mobile infrastructure by specifying pre-determined compliance profiles (e.g. STIG 252 for BlackBerry Enterprise Server) and using these to compare known good values against the existing server configurations. With Fixmo Sentinel SCC, administrators can ensure that mobile servers, including BlackBerry Enterprise Server and Good Mobile Messaging Server, are configured correctly at installation and remain correctly configured.
